Oh dear.  This is going to be our first full five day week in a long time.  I am predicting that my students might be a bit sluggish on Friday.  I hope not, because we have many things to cover over the next five days! First of all Monday we will continue to learn to talk about our homes and we will be finishing our book Les drôle d'animaux.  We had alot of fun with this book, and I hate to see it come to an end. Tuesday, we will be starting a new book and learning about the sound "U" in french.  We are also going to have a visiter in from Kouchibouguac National Park. Wednesday will be routine as always, but on Thursday, Mr. Dupplessie will be joining us in the computer lab to help us with our next project on our Maison de rêve.  I am looking forward to his expertise! Finally it will be Friday, and we will be busy videoing our new Heartland Happenings, our weekly book and a writing piece from someone in the class.  I wonder who it will be this week?  Don't forget to bring in your item for the food drive, or a loonie and participate in Backwards Day...it should be a riot! I look forward to such a busy and productive week.  Hopefully I will be able to get everything accomplished that I plan.

Just a reminder for my wonderful students, that tomorrow is "Le jour de pyjama" and they are allowed to wear their jammies if they bring in an article for the Food Bank or a donation of a Loonie.  The suggested article is Cheese Whiz, jam or canned soup.  Remember that every time you bring in an article for the Food Bank, you get a ballot that is put into a draw for a great prize for our class.  See you tomorrow.  Don't forget your slippers!

Just a friendly reminder to all my students that tomorrow, at 9:30am,  is our Remembrance Day Ceremony.  Please come dressed neat and tidy for this special occasion as most of you will be represening our class as Flag Bearers or as our Wreath Bearers.  Parents are more than welcome to attend.  Lest we forget!

Happy Remembrance Day everyone.  I hope you all take the time to pay tribute to the brave individuals who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and peace that we greatly cherish today. Monday, we will be having a visiter in from St. Andrews to watch my wonderful class.  I know she will be very impressed with all my incredible students and their attitute towards the french program.  I am so proud of all of you. Tuesday, we will be starting our new book and I know you are all going to love this one.  We will be finishing up our project on our best friends, and I can't wait to see the final projects out in the hallway displayed for all to see. Wednesday, is our Rembrance Day ceremony in the gym at 9:30am.  I am looking forward to seeing what Harkins' ceremony contains.  I heard it was very touching.  Just a reminder to dress properly for this day. Thursday, is Pajama Day at Harkins, if you bring in an item or a loonie for the food bank.  It will also be our day of rushing to get all the material finished for our last day of the week.  Our knuckles will be to the grind, but we will also be able to enjoy our special time with our Reading Buddies and of course La journée marveilleuse.  I will also be video taping another writing piece and a book reading to be displayed on my teacher page for your parents to see how great you are all progressing.  I wonder who's name I will draw this week?  I am having trouble uploading Shelby and Campbell's videos that I taped last Thursday, but I know the problem will be solved shortly.  Keep checking in for the videos! Just a reminder that there is no school on Friday, due to Remembrance Day. Enjoy your week, and your long weekend this coming weekend. Mme Hale

As the Christmas season approaches, Harkins Elementary will again be holding a food drive in support of the local Food Banks.  In addition to helping support the Food Banks, each food item donated validates a ballot for a chance to win prizes provided by District 16 for our school - the more donations,m the more chances to win!  There will be THREE draws for an Ipad II for the student's classroom. In order to encourage our students to participate, we will be holding different activities on the last school day of the week until Christmas.  Cost to participate in each event is one item for the food band or one loonie.  Although there are suggestions for each week, any food item is welcome. Tomorrow will be Crazy Hat Day!  Bring a donation for the Food Bank, and you can wear your craziest hat all day long.  Please help support your local food bank and participate in such a great cause.
Happy Halloween everyone.  I hope everyone has a safe and exciting Halloween. Monday, we will be Skyping with the Grade 5 class from Croft.  The students will dress up in their costumes and explain to their pen pals about their costumes.  Tuesday, with the start of November, we will be starting a Remembrance Day poem in French and we will also be continuing to talk about our best friends so that we can describe them to someone else.  I know the kids are going to love this activity.  The school calendar goes home this day so please look for it in your child's HEART book. Wednesday is our Show and Tell day, and that is always a treat to see what the students will choose to bring to show to their classmates. Thursday is our last day of school for the week, and we will have our Reading Buddies on this day as well as our Journée marvielleuse.  Don't forget it is also our library day, so remember to bring your books back for Roma!  These short weeks means we have to work super hard while we are at the school so that we can get in the curriculum that is needed for this Intensive French program. Have a great week everyone!

Another week is upon us, and we have a tremendous amount of work to do if we want to have our fun on Friday carving our pumpkins. Monday, will be the Bully in the Purple Pants at Gretna Green, so we will be missing most of the morning.  We won't have time to do our Mini-Prof and Dans mon sac, due to this.  Sorry class. Tuesday, is work our tails off, trying to get our new book started, a "text narratif" going for Halloween and of course all the other parts of our day that is very important. Wednesday and Thursday, we will continue to try and get everything in and completed, so that on Friday we can spend most of our morning carving our pumpkins for the end of our book "L'Halloween chez les jumeaux".  I hope you all have a super week, and work super hard!

Welcome everyone!  I finally have my teacher page up and running thanks to the great Tech Team at the District Office.  The middle of October already!  I am very pleased with the progress of my students thus far, and I am anxious to see more of an improvement as our time ticks on.  Keep up the hard work everyone. This week, we have a short week!  The students will be excited to hear that.  Friday is a curriculum day for teachers so, the students get to sleep in, relax and enjoy their day! Since this week is a short one, we will be working hard trying to cover as much as we can in such short amount of time.  We will be continuing to work on our Halloween book and vocabulary, write a letter to our Croft pen pals, and work on describing one of our family members characteristics. I look forward to spending another great week with such a great class.
