In an effort to improve communication between teachers and parents regarding the progress of their child, we have decided to have an Interim Report Card go out halfway between the November and April regular report cards. These interim reports are just a snapshot of your child’s work. The interim reports are very general and cover only literacy and numeracy.
Please note, there are no Parent-teacher interviews with these reports. As mentioned above, it is simply a way for us to give you a general update.
Students are asked to wear their PJ's and bring a favourite toy on Friday, January 28th in celebration of Literacy Week. Constable Chadwick will be here to read to the students at 9:00. Then from 9:40-10:10, teachers will read to a different class. Cookies and milk will be provided for the students during recess. Literacy games will take place in the classrooms from recess until noon. Students can wear their PJ's all day !!!!
The girls basketball game scheduled for tomorrow (Jan 25) is calcelled. There will be a jamboree on Wednesday, Jan. 26th at MVHS. Games will be at 5:15 and 6:30.
If you have any gently used children's books to donate for the book drive please bring them them in Tues.Jan. 25th.
On Wed. Jan.26th students will be given the opportunity to purchase books for $.50 each. Money collected will be used for literacy-related projects.
Harkins students were treated today to a presentation by Mad Science. This was an introduction to their after school program. This is a 6 week program that will take place each Tuesday after school. Participants will develop a love for Science by watching a mini rocket launch, making sound with a multi-effects processor, learning about optical illusions, and more. It is time for students to return to school after the holiday. Teachers are involved in Curriculum Implementation meetings on Monday. As a result, students will return to school on Tuesday, January 11. We are looking forward to seeing our students again!
Schools will close for the Christmas Break on Thursday, December 23 at 11:45 a.m. Early Dismissal (Storm Day Bus Routes will be used). In light of this announcement, the skating scheduled for Thursday has been cancelled. We would like to remind you that students will return to classes on Tuesday, January 11.
