Here we are, the middle of October already!  We have a full and busy week ahead of us!  Please check your child's agenda in their homework binder each evening.  There will be a slight change in homework this week.  This is also where memos and other important information is sent home (bring back and keep home plastic sleeves).  It is very important that your child does their reading each evening and log it with your signature/initials.  It would also be very beneficial for you to ask your child questions about what they just read.  Comprehension remains an extremely important strategy! In Literacy we continue working very well during our Daily 5!  Ask your child what recent activities they did in Word Work from the "tic tac toe" choice board.  In Math, we will look at place value this week, concentrating on the numbers in the ones, tens and hundreds place.  Science will get exciting this week too.  Ask your child about it!Important Reminder: All fundraiser money and forms are due by Thursday!!  We certainly appreciate all the effort the students are putting into this :)

Wow, June already.......and what a busy month it will be!!This week in spelling we are focusing on the "oa" words.  Please review these words each night with your child.  This will be our last week for spelling and for worksheets in the homework duotang.  We will, however, continue to send books home with your child each week.  I can't stress enough how important it is for your child to read books at their level each evening! In math we will be completing our Addition and Subtraction to 20 unit.  The month of June will see us work both in the Geometry and Measurement units.  A permission slip went home today with your child for our field trip to Metepenagiag.  Please sign and return it with $3 ASAP!!  We are looking forward to a fantastic day!!  Cross your fingers the weather cooperates!

Wow, the middle of May, how time flies!!  I hope all the mother's had a very special day on Sunday!  Your children were all very excited to give you the cards that they made.  They took great care in creating them and the ideas they came up with were priceless!  I know that these will become cherished momentos as the years go on! This week in spelling and word work we will be focusing on the "magic/bossy e" sound.  We want the children to use this strategy automatically when reading.  In writing we will continue working on procedural writing pieces and the proper use of conventions.  They need to always begin sentences with a capital letter, space the words appropriately and end with the proper punctuation.  In math, we will continue working with numbers to 100 and addition and subtraction facts to 20.  It is very important that your children continue to review the doubles facts and making ten facts that are in their homework duotangs and the activities that go along with the hundred chart!
