The Harkins boys and girls basketball teams will finish their season by playing in the Dr. Losier Jamboree this Thursday, February 20th. Here is the schedule for each team:The Girls play at 3:30 against St. Andrew's in Court AThe Boys play at 4:30 against Nelson in Court A* Please note, no outdoor footwear is permitted in the gym (including spectators) Players must have an arranged drive and are expected to be on their best behavior. Canteen facilities will be available.Good luck and have fun!

In celebration of the opening of the Sochi Winter Olympics, Friday, Feb. 7 will be Jersey Day. Any student who has a hockey jersey is asked to wear it to school on Friday. A photo of all students will be taken.

Does your child like bugs? Do you have a future Steven Spielburg in your house? Then Mad Science is for you! Registration forms have been sent home with your child. The six sessions will take place each Wednesday beginning Feb. 12. Registration deadline is Monday, February 10.

Tips for Keeping Snacks Safe:Always wash hands before preparing or eating a snack. This is the one of best ways to prevent food spoilage and contamination. Wash all fruits and veggies under cold running water. Clean all lunch boxes, thermal bags, plastic utensils and containers in hot soapy water. DO NOT re-use plastic wrapping and bags.Keep foods cold -Yogurt, deli meats and cheese should be kept cold. -Be sure to keep lunches in the fridge until the morning and include an ice pack or frozen juice pack when sending lunches to school.

Keeping the drinks in snacks healthyDid you know that fruit drinks, pop, and sports drinks usually contain lots ofadded sugar, very few vitamins and may contain caffeine? For example, one 700mlbottle of sports drink has 10 teaspoons of sugar – the same amount in one can of pop. These are not considered healthy beverage choices.
