Welcome back to Harkins!  We have been having a great time in our class!  Your children are wonderful and we had lots of fun last week!  I just wanted to remind parents to send in a set of clean clothes for your child.  This should include a t-shirt, pants, socks and underwear.  I will store them in the classroom and in case of a spill or accident we will have a change of clothing and won't have to call home. Thank you for sending the extra supplies that were missing on the original list. If you ever have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!  I look forward to working together with you to help make this a great year for your child.  Mrs. Underhill

       As I’m sure many of you are well aware, we have had a visitor in our class all month.  Star, the elf has joined our class and has caused a lot of excitement for not only our class, but for many students in our school. He has been a bit mischievous; beginning the day he ate the soup from the Food Bank box. He and Chippy, the elf from Mrs. Collette’s class, emptied out all our markers and crayons and locked us out of our classroom!  Mrs. Pinder was not happy and gave both elves detention.        Today, both Star and Chippy were kidnapped by somebody. We have to meet the ransom demand of 2 chocolate bars by tomorrow by 9am, or else we won’t see either elf again!  Hopefully they will be returned tomorrow J  

Just a reminder that we are going skating tomorrow, November 9th from 10:00-10:45am.  My students are very excited! We would love for parents and/or grandparents to join us at the Civic Center to help us tie skates.  Also, you are more than welcome to bring along your skates and join the children on the ice. Many of our little ones have not had a lot of experience with skating, so the more helpers we have, the more successful this experience will be for them.  

On Thursday, November 8th at 9:30am Harkins Elementary School will be having a ceremony in honor of Remembrance Day.  I would like to invite you to come and participate with us as we acknowledge the sacrifices of the men and women who have served our country. My students, along with the students in Mrs. Corney's class have been preparing a poem and sent to present.  We have been practicing in class and I will be sending home a copy of the poem/song for my students to practice as part of their homework.  Hope to see you here!
