Brrr... Today proved to remind us that winter is around the corner. It is a good idea to pack an extra sweater or sweat shirt in the bookbag in case it is needed.
We had a busy week. We have been focusing on Halloween stories, vocabulary and activities. Today we read about a boy preparing to go to a party at his friends apartment. Ask your child what happened. How did things get mixed up. Of course we had to end the day with a Halloween cookie treat. I sometimes think I enjoy these more than the kids:}
We also went off course and learned and sang "The Migration Song." See if your child remembers it. Ask for a musical presentation:}
We are exploring the numbers to 20 in math. The children are working on the many ways to "show" a number, using pictures, counters, numerals and words. Simple things at home can be used to demonstrate the many ways to show a number. For example, pennies or buttons can be moved around to demonstrate that 11 can be represented as 10 and 1, 9 and 2 etc.
Skating will be starting this coming week or early next week. So get the blades ready!! All children must have a helmet. We do have a limited number of extra skates and helmets here at school should your child not have their own.
