The Barn by Lindsey Burns

As far as I can clearly see is horses. I see the one grand or main barn plus the side one, with endless green fields by both barns. I usually hear the excited whinny of a horse going on a trail .Or the scared neigh, when the tractor engine roars. I briefly rest my hand  on the cool solid door of  the stable as I walk in .I slowly pat the soft  rump  of my school horse as her  dirty  straw covered  fur scratches and tickles my hand.  I quickly finish swallowing my doughnut down.  The taste of cream and chocolate still lingers in my mouth.  The lovely smell of horse and hay clings in the air and I can smell the tractor blow up puffs of smoke.
